Free Crochet Pattern - Toddler Play Dress

Pattern Notes

Materials and Tools:

> U.S K/10 ½ 6.5mm Crochet Hook
> Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice ( Any Worsted Weight Yarn) Colour A - Dusty Blue - 340 yards
> Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice ( Any Worsted Weight Yarn) Colour B - Fisherman - 50 yards
> Tapestry Needle / Darning Needle - To weave in ends

Finished Measurements Approx:
> Toddler 1-2 years

> Width 13”
> Circumference 26”
> Length 18”

Gauge:

> 12.4 dc and 7 rows = 4 inches (10cm)
> 6.2 dc = 2 inches
Pattern

Make 2 - Working from top to bottom:

R1. Working with Color A yarn Ch41, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (40sc)

R2. Ch2 (counts as 1dc from here and throughout) 1dc in each st across, turn (40dc)

R3-R28. Ch2, 1dc in each st across, 1dc in top of turning ch, turn (40dc)

R29. Change to Colour B yarn Ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) 1sc in each st across, turn (40sc)

R30. Ch3 (counts as 1dc, ch1) 1dc in next st * Skip next st, work (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in next st * Repeat across, turn

R31. Slip stitch into first ch1 space, ch2 (counts as 1dc) 3dc in same space, 1sc in same space * Work (4dc, 1sc) in next ch1 space * Repeat across

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Joining:

> Using a needle and colour A yarn, with wrong sides facing outwards, lay both pieces flat on top of each other, seam 10sts across the top on right side starting with outside stitch working inwards towards neck. Fasten off and weave in ends. Seam up 10sts across the top on left side starting with outside stitch working inwards towards neck. Fasten off and weave in ends.

> Using needle and colour A yarn, leaving the top 9 rows unworked for armholes, seam downwards until row 28 on both sides Fasten off and weave in ends.

Arms:

R1. With right side facing outwards and with colour B yarn, join yarn to underarm, ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) 1sc in same space, work 35sc evenly around armhole, join with a slip stitch to beg sc (36sc)

Fasten off and weave in ends Repeat on other arm.

Tie:

R1. With colour B yarn, Ch171, slip stitch in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. 

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing:

> Weave tie through row 13 of dress and tie into a bow.
